What is Armed & Gorgeous Jewellery made from?

Silver

Each piece description will tell you exactly what the piece is made from. As a rule of thumb the vast majority of pieces are made from 925 sterling silver. This is the industry standard for genuine, high-quality silver jewellery (92.5% silver with 7.5% alloy). 100% silver is generally too soft so strengthening alloys must be added. Our pieces are solid, not hollow, and silver items above 7.8g are hallmarked (to prove silver authenticity).

Oxidised Silver

This is sterling silver that has undergone a chemical reaction and has been darkened through the process of oxidation. This is great for accentuating small details and creating dark pieces. The more oxidised a piece the darker the metal will become.

Solid Gold

Some pieces are made from solid gold or gold plate. Gold purity is measured in karat with 24K/ct signifying 100% pure gold. Due to the cost and also softness of gold, alloys (including silver) are often mixed - common purities are 9k, 12k or 18k. This also explains why some gold items are more expensive than others.

Gold Plate/Rolled/Filled

This is a common practice where the piece is coated in gold. The piece is usually made from silver and then coated in gold of varying karat. Over time gold plate will rub off if the jewellery is not cared for properly but this can be greatly delayed with proper practices (see below).

Rolled gold is many times thicker than gold plate and is, therefore, more expensive and will last a lot longer than gold plate.

Gold fill is even thicker than rolled. Gold fill is the closest you can get to a solid gold item.

Will this arrive on time?

We send items with royal mail. For items upto £150 we send using signed for delivery. This generally takes 2-4 days to arrive.

For higher value items we send using Royal Mail special delivery. This will usually take 1-3 days to arrive. If you need the item in a hurry please use our express delivery where we aim to get it to you the next day, if not within 2 days.

Please note that we are at the mercy of Royal Mail and deliveries are affected by strikes and delays during peak times. We send orders as soon as we can (usually the day of or after receiving the order).

Can I return this if it doesn't fit?

Jewellery items can be returned 90 days after purchase. We cannot accept earrings legally due to hygiene reasons

If it doesn't fit can I get it resized?

Please contact us if this is the case. The vast majority of the time the piece can be altered by the designer so generally speaking resizings are available, but it is always best to email us at [email protected] first.

How do i know my size?

When buying a ring we very strongly recommend you get sized at a local jewellers.

For bracelets 7.5” is the standard size and fits most people. Most of our bangles come in one size which again generally fits most people.

For necklaces 18” is the most popular length. 16” is good for layering.

How do I look after my jewellery?

General recommendations are to take jewellery off when showering or swimming, to apply perfumes and lotions before puting on your jewellery, and to avoid any chemicals ( such as hair dye, chlorine.

It is advised to take off jewellery when exercising as perspiration can be damaging, especially to gemstones such as opals.

It is also advised not to wear your jewellery to bed, and not to store it in direct sunlight or damp conditions.
